Discover Canada’s Food Island - Five Day Itinerary

Eat your way across the Island! Savour scrumptious seafood, delectable desserts, and everything in between on your PEI culinary trip. Three meals a day may not be enough!

Day One: Charlottetown

For breakfast or brunch, it’s really a toss-up between Leonhard’s Café or Receiver Coffee (with three locations).

Enjoy award-winning chowder at Claddagh Oyster House or Olde Dublin Pub. Insider tip: The PEI Potato Chowder competition at the 2023 PEI International Shellfish Festival was claimed by in-house Chef Landon Thacker.

What’s your fancy for at dinner – surf or turf? For outstanding service and seafood, dine at the inconspicuous and eclectic Water Prince Corner Shop. Don’t want to choose? Make a reservation at Sims Corner Steakhouse & Oyster Bar for an intimate dining experience with PEI Beef and a variety of oysters.

Day Two: East - Points East Coastal Drive

Head to Georgetown to the Maroon Pig Art Gallery & Sweet Shop. Choose from a daily selection of original hand-made goodies and a signature fair-trade coffee, Georgetown Fishermen’s Blend.

When on the east coast, fish and chips is a must and the Portuguese variety from 21 Breakwater in Souris comes highly recommended by Chef Ilona Daniel. A marinated and lightly coated haddock is pan fried with white wine, butter and lime. Served with hand-cut fries cooked in olive oil and homemade tartar sauce. Yum!

By now, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere! Continue your day at the Myriad View Distillery for a sample of their legal moonshine. Tour the distillery and witness “Strait Shine” collected from the still.

For dinner, head to Montague, the beautiful. In summer, Windows on the Water Restaurant offers a spectacular view of the river. Enjoy a traditional lobster supper, award-winning seafood chowder, famous homemade desserts and Island hospitality at its finest.

As an alternative to seafood in a casual atmosphere, the smoked brisket baked beans from Crafters at Bogside Brewing are tasty and pair well with the craft beer and cider on tap.

Day Three: Green Gables Shore

Start your day with a visit to The Dunes Café & Studio Gallery located in Brackley Beach where Chef Norman Day and his team offer inspired cuisine. After a tour of the gallery and garden, enjoy a light lunch served on Dunes pottery. The lobster spinach quiche gets rave reviews!

The Mill in New Glasgow menu features comfort food with a flair for exotic flavours and passion for local. The ambiance of the Olde Mill is both elegant and rustic, with dining available on two levels and a beautiful view of the River Clyde.

The Blue Mussel Café in North Rustico may be the mecca for seafood in summer. As the waitlist can be long, refer to the FAQ on their website for options. You can always arrive early and enjoy a walk on the beach or boardwalk until your table is ready.

If you're looking for a world-famous lobster supper, head to either Fisherman's Wharf in North Rustico or New Glasgow Lobster Suppers.

Day Four: Red Sands Shore

Enjoy a craft beverage and lunch at Lone Oak Brewing Co in Borden-Carleton. Sample flagship products like Fixed Link, Boat Traffic and Hollywood with names that salute the community’s history.

Stop at The Handpie Company in nearby Albany for frozen or hot handpies. Dive deep into the many varieties on offer, each loaded with local ingredients and amazing flavours.

The Landmark Oyster House in Victoria is located across from the beautiful Victoria Playhouse and offers casual dining with an eclectic menu!

At Backwoods Burger in Tyne Valley, choose from favourites like Cluster Cluck, Return of the Mac and Dam Burger. Each spring, PEI Burger Love is a celebration of community and local burger creations. This restaurant is the most recent winner of most loved burger.
